About

My name is John Wright. I’m married to Melissa, and we live in Ringgold, Georgia (near Chattanooga, Tennessee). I graduated from Harding University in May 2006, got married a few weeks later, and moved back to the place I originally called home. Now I’m part of the working world, trying to find my place, make my mark, and lead others to do the same.

My goal with this blog is to create a forum for insightful analysis and discussion of the various topics that interest me. Most of my writing is about sports, particularly baseball and basketball, and if you’ve read any of it already, you already know it’s mostly analytical in nature.

I love to use statistics to form the basis of my analysis, and I find numbers persuasive because they help tell the parts of the story that the eye doesn’t always see. Not everyone shares that viewpoint, especially in the sports world, so it’s possible that you’ll read a lot of things with which you disagree. That’s fine, as long as we can be civil in our discussion. I suppose everyone wins if we can accomplish that.

Occasionally, I’ll post about politics, religion, music or something else, whatever is on my mind at the moment. If you share my interests, or even if you don’t, please come back often. I try to keep things up-to-date around here with a couple of posts per week, and I’m always striving to keep the site’s look clean and the content informative. You can be the judge and let me know if I’m lacking in either department.

Here are a few housekeeping items to get things started:

  1. In order to comment, you’ll need to register for a user name. I require this primarily to prevent spam comments, which are unfortunately a problem even on a blog this small in scope.
  2. I also moderate comments for those who haven’t posted before.  If you’re having trouble posting a comment for the first time, just be patient and see if it shows up a few hours later.
  3. I try to think before I post, so I trust you to think before you comment. It makes the discussion so much better that way.
  4. Please be courteous and help me make this blog a pleasant reading experience for anyone who comes across it.
  5. If you need to contact me, I can be reached at blog (at) jfwiii (dot) net.  I’d prefer that we discuss site content in the comments (for the world to see!), but you can reach me that way if you have a suggestion or a technical issue.
  6. Have fun. I enjoy writing, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading and discussing things with me.
